Dear Fellow Ward 2 Residents,
I’m Dave Malcolm, and I’m running to be your voice on City Council because I believe Ward 2 deserves a dedicated, active advocate at the table. Having lived in the areas of Henderson/Carolina Park, Holmedale/Lansdowne and Dufferin/Lorne and with family and friends in Ava Heights/St Andrews, Mayfair/Wyndham Hills, North Ward/Brant Ave/Terrace Hill I believe I understand the varied issues each area faces and the diversity of their needs.
Having worked my way from the farm thru a factory, to management and the owner of a small business, I know the value of hard work, accountability, and listening to residents from all walks of life.
What I Stand For:
- Fiscal Responsibility: I will fight for smart spending and better value for your tax dollars to ensure a sustainable future for Brantford. Preparing us for a New Hospital and improved traffic concerns to get us through the city for a shorter commute to work and beyond our city.
- Community-Led Growth: I support development that balances necessary progress with our local quality of life and heritage.
- Active Advocacy: I believe in service over politics—vocal representation to ensure Ward 2’s concerns are heard at City Hall. Whether the issues are about safety, traffic, development, taxes or the ability to live comfortably in your own home.
What I Am Concerned About:
I am deeply concerned about the rising cost of living, with property taxes increasing 16.28% in the last term alone. I am also worried the cost of housing. The ability to own a home or afford the increasing costs of renting and housing insecurity, especially for our older residents who want to stay in their own home. I am concerned about the growth of our city and the need for better traffic flow, the congestion of our streets, and ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe with controlled traffic calming measures.
What I Will Work to Change:
I will challenge the direction of City Hall for solutions to the homelessness and addictions crisis, focused financial management for long term growth, and the demands on our essential services. I want to see a vibrant city that is a destination of the arts and entertainment and the celebration of our heritage. I want to build a better future together, ensuring that growth works for us, not against us.
I would be honored to earn your vote on October 26, 2026. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at dave.malcolm@live.com to share your ideas for our community.
